Sustainability Commitment

All of our big log timbers are sustainably sourced from natural beetle-killed timbers out of the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia.  As for our everyday timbers, there is nothing everyday about them - we use only #1 Grade or Better Douglas Fir which are Free of the Heart Center and purchased direct from the sawmill.  What does this mean to you?  They are stronger, more resistant to twisting and checking (cracking) than any of the timbers you can get from the big box stores. Also, they are rough sawn in the actual size... rough sawn so you see tons of the beautiful wood grain, and every piece of timber is actually the dimension stated (ex: a 2x4 is actually 2"x 4", not the 1.5"x 3.5" sold at the big box stores).
